Françoise Vaal's art can be defined as 'Expressive Nature Alchemy.' She weaves the everyday natural world with the extraordinary. Through the digital fusion of textures, layers, and colors, she transmutes botanical elements into realms of vibrant emotion and depth. This results in compositions that invite the audience to experience the natural world in a new light.
Her artistic journey, once rooted in landscape photography, has evolved through macro photography into an intimate odyssey of intricate details—an odyssey that unveils the almost imperceptible stories of petals, leaves, branches, and roots. This microcosmic exploration serves as the foundation of her quest for a unique perspective.
"The narrative in my artworks is one of transformation— akin to the alchemical quest— where botanical elements become carriers of profound change. This metamorphosis within the universal cycle of life, from growth to decay, reveals a profound interconnectedness that resonates with my audience."
"With my photographic art, I am also a silent advocate for the rediscovery of a conscious relationship with nature. The aesthetic allure serves as the conduit inviting viewers to restore their bond with the natural world."
The medium of photography compels her to experience the subject firsthand. By progressively observing more intensely, the essence of all life becomes palpable and she captures this essence in her photography.
"I am drawn to a particular form and feel an emotion in response. Through the use of color layers or textures, I highlight the natural characteristic that invoked something within me. This way, I pay attention to what I might otherwise overlook or pass by thoughtlessly. And the allure of an organism always tells me something about myself."
In her book "Self-Confidence – Learn to Trust Your Natural Self," (Dutch only) she writes about the universal life lessons of nature. As a visual artist, she brings the life lessons of organisms to life. In series such as "The Final Takeover," "Anticipation," and "Trampled," she establishes a connection between the shared life traits of humans and nature.
