Standing Tall is an original mixed media artwork on paper, featuring a single pyramid-shaped rock rising from a deep blue ocean, surrounded by a heavily textured surf that almost seems to spill beyond the edge of the paper.

The rock stands alone. Solid, quiet and unwavering.

Around it, the sea is anything but still. Layers of textured paint create movement and foam, building a surf that feels almost physical. The water appears to push, break and drip downward, giving the artwork a strong sense of motion and depth.

That contrast is what gives Standing Tall its character.

The rock does not need to fight the ocean. It simply remains where it is, while everything around it moves, changes and crashes against it.

The deep blue of the sea makes the solitary form stand out even more strongly, while the tactile surface draws the eye toward the foreground. The textured surf is not just painted onto the paper; it becomes part of the object itself, blurring the line between image and material.

For me, Standing Tall is about resilience, presence and staying grounded when everything around you is in motion.

🌊 Blijf staan met Standing Tall 🌊

Standing Tall is een origineel mixed media kunstwerk op papier, met een enkele piramidevormige rots die oprijst uit een diepblauwe oceaan. Rondom de rots beweegt een sterk getextureerde branding die bijna van het papier lijkt af te druipen.

De rots staat alleen. Massief, stil en onverstoorbaar.

De zee eromheen is allesbehalve rustig. Lagen structuurverf zorgen voor beweging, schuim en diepte. Het water lijkt te stromen, te breken en naar beneden te druipen, waardoor het oppervlak bijna tastbaar wordt.

Juist dat contrast geeft Standing Tall zijn kracht.

De rots hoeft niet tegen de oceaan te vechten. Hij blijft simpelweg staan, terwijl alles eromheen beweegt, verandert en tegen hem aanslaat.

Het diepe blauw van de zee laat de solitaire vorm nog sterker naar voren komen. Tegelijkertijd trekt de voelbare structuur je blik naar de voorgrond. De branding is niet alleen geschilderd, maar wordt bijna een fysiek onderdeel van het werk, waardoor beeld en materiaal in elkaar overlopen.

Voor mij gaat Standing Tall over veerkracht, aanwezigheid en gegrond blijven wanneer alles om je heen in beweging is.
