The Art of Rugged Landscapes in Mixed Media
My landscapes often begin with an encounter: a place where the horizon is larger than your plans. Rugged natural areas draw me in because they need nothing from you. They simply exist. Indifferent, imposing, and therefore honest.
In this series, I explore the scale of the landscape and the position of the human within it. Sometimes human presence is visible, sometimes only perceptible. I use photography as a foundation and add layers of paint, texture, and collage. In this way, an image emerges that shows not only what was there, but also what it stirred.
In these works, the landscape becomes a mirror of inner space. Not as therapy, but as recognition: a reminder that we are not separate from the world around us. That we once knew what it meant to be part of earth, wind, stone, and time.
These works are created for those who feel drawn to wilderness, freedom, and silence, and who see nature not as a backdrop, but as a force that shapes
us.
